ATL West Deck Parking
The ATL West Parking Deck is the largest project Sovereign Construction has worked on to date. With a project budget of over four hundred and thirty million dollars, the construction encompassed over 2 million square feet of horizontal square footage surface area, and another 2 million square feet of vertical surface area. Due to the size and aggressive delivery schedule the project required constant communication and collaboration among all project team members with a strict adherence to quality control. Built next to the Georgia International Convention Center, the seven level parking deck will provide parking for airport employees, and be able to house over 6000 vehicles at any given time. The ATL West Parking Deck was built as part of a capital construction campaign that will renovate existing parking structures servicing the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport and construct additional parking facilities on and around the airport campus.
As a member of the Holder Austin Moody Bryson project team, Sovereign was tasked with constructing and managing the installation of a cantilevered concrete pedestrian bridge that will be used to provide access for parking deck patrons with the ATL SkyTrain Station platform. In addition Sovereign also managed the landscaping scope for the courtyard atrium, and handrail installation throughout the entire parking deck facility. Sovereign was also retained on-site after the project reached a point of substantial completion to assist the Holder Austin Moody Bryson team with punch-list activities, project close-out and demobilization. It must also be noted that the project finished ahead of schedule in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by quickly implementing stringent temperature testing and social distancing protocols that kept project team members safe throughout the entire construction process.
